Moderate 4.4 quake hits near Khowy, West Azerbaijan, Iran

According to the German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ), the quake hit on Friday, June 10th, 2022, at 10:02 am local time at a shallow depth of 68 km. The exact magnitude, epicecial, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the Kandilli Oservatory and Earthquake Research Institute in Istanbul (KOERI-RETMC), which listed it as a magnitude 4.5 earthquake. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 4.4.
