DES MOINES, IOWA – Saturday afternoon the Marquette University men’s and women’s track & field teams concluded competition. The rest of the squad wrapped up action at the UW-Whitewater Drake Alternative Friday afternoon.
At Drake, the women’s 4×200 meter relay team of Daylee Braden, Adelaide Havens, Carley Hintz and Arianna Mansavage record the No. 8 time in program history. The team posted a time of 1:40.67 to take ninth overall.
The men’s 4×200 meter team followed suit running the fifth-fastest time in MU history. The team of Daniel Bendel, Zachariah Murray, Alex Lesperance and Julian Wright finished in a time of 1:28.11 to take 13th place.
“It was a pretty good showing from both our men’s and women’s 4×200 teams. Having them both post top-10 marks was pretty cool,” said head coach Bert Rogers. “we came in competed hard and had some pretty good stuff.”
In Saturday’s sprint medley, the team of Daylee Braden, Adelaide Havens, Arianna Mansavage and Emily Noone recorded the No. 7 time in MU history running a 4:06.28, finished11th-overall.
Senior Lindsey Mirkes cleared a season-best height in the high jump making it over the bar at a height of 1.76 meters/5 feet, 9.25 inches to take seventh overall. Her mark ties her for the 28th spot in the west region and currently puts her in a qualifying position for the NCAA Preliminary Rounds.
At Whitewater, the women swept the top four spots in the high jump. Katie Dingle, Emma Ludwig and Claudia Millan were able to all clear a height of 1.55 meters/5 feet, 1 inch to take the top-3 spots. Freshman Annika Bynum cleared a mark of 1.50 meters/4 feet, 11 inches to round out the top-4 spots for MU.
Freshman Grace Mager threw a personal best distance in the javelin with a mark of 38.28 meters/125 feet, 7 inches to claim the bronze medal. Mager’s mark moves her up to No. 9 all-time in school history.
Dan Weizeorick claimed first in the 5K running a personal best time of 14:57.21. On the women’s side, senior Emily Foley earned runner-up honors with a time of 18:16.24, just two seconds off her PR. Mallory Lafever took fourth with a 22-second PR 18:25.45.
Mitchell Van Vooren finished first in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 53.96. It is Van Vooren’s third time this season running a sub-54 second time. Freshman Caden George recorded a personal best in the event with a time of 57.50.
The Golden Eagles will travel up to Madison Friday, May 6 for the Badger Invitational.
